Throughout the world, the Pontifical Mission Societies support the proclamation of the Gospel, the building of churches, and the work and witness of mission priests, religious Sisters and Brothers, and lay pastoral leaders. These missionaries teach the faith while providing food, education, and medical care to vulnerable communities in over 1,100 mission territories in Africa, Asia, the islands of the Pacific and remote regions of Latin America and Europe, particularly there where Christ is still unknown, has been shunned, forgotten, or is actively persecuted.
